I currently have a 40 Breeder setup it isn't drilled so no sump yet I don't have alot to spend to get all this setup but would like some recommendations on Hob Overflows, return pump etc I am not wanting anything fancy just get the job done sump will basically be a fuge Thank you :)

A lot of diy overflow option out there. I’ve seen return lines just hanging on the glass edge so no need to drill for returns if you don’t want too.

For the cost, I would just drill the tank. HOB overflows are known for failures and will flood your home if it happens. Get an Eshopps Eclipse S overflow and drill the tank. It comes with a drill guide and the drill bit. Then you can just run the returns over the top of the rim if you don't want to drill for them. This is a MUCH safer option and the extra cost is small.

My only issue with this is everything is already setup and unless I'm able to drain some water out and drill it upright instead of on its side I'm not sure I would be able as I've got coral already attached to some rock work and no extra storage budget isn't big unfortunately

Don’t attempt to drill upright. I think eshopps has an affordable option for your needs

Drilling up right can be done but it would require more know how and hands on experience. Not good to try your first time on a established aquarium.

The tank is already established
Gotcha.

Then look into the CPR overflow box with the Tom's Aqualifter pump. The aqua lifter insures that a siphon is created after a power outage, or other non power outage related issues.

Also in the process of going Barebottom so Flow isn't a issue so my question on picking a overflow how big is to big and how to match it with a return pump

The descriptions on the overflow boxes should list what the max GPH they will handle. So first you might want to see which pumps you might want to go with and see what the MAX GPH is, then size your box after you have decide on which pump your going to go with.

A DC would be the better way to go as you will be able to adjust the GPH. But again, it's what you can afford. A used Vectra s1 pump would be my recommendation, or even a used Varios-2 will work.
