Friday I picked up a Gen4 Eshopps S300. it is used, but is practically new as the PO bought way too big of a skimmer for their setup. Anyhow I set it up and it ran great for the evening. I emptied before bed because there was a lot of really nasty stuff in the cup, and I was concerned for it to overflow. Well it did. I cleaned the cup and got it running again, and then out of nowhere it started to overflow. I currently have it turned to mostly open on the gate just to stop it from overflowing again. I have the water at about 8.5in currently. I have read in the past to "run it wide open" for awhile, but does that mean on high, or the gate wide open? I am just not sure I am doing this right. Not really interested in it overflowing several times a day.

Out of curiosity:
Have you been using coral putty?

Nope. I used some JB water weld, but that was about 3 months ago or so.
Yeah,
It probably just needs time to break in.

Coral putty will make a skimmer go bonkers
