So I've been on fallow for 9 weeks. In the meantime I've had my fish in qt. I treated them with Cupramine, Prazipro, and Maracyn 2. They all look great but probably desperate to go to their Dt.

I've hear 60, 72, and 76 days from different people. So, in reality how much should be enough?

Better to be safe than sorry... It used to be that 72 was the suggested number, then it got bumped to 76 from what I read.

i Think this is due to the cyst breaking open and releasing free swimmers at day 72, then 4 days to ensure those free swimmers are dead.

Velvet and Brook require a six week fallow.
Most strains of ich are also safely eradicated after 45 days. (This boils down to the individual's tolerance for risk) Personally I don't take ANY RISK with my DT!

There are a few strains of ich that have been known to still release free swimmers up to 72 days. This is extreme since the temperatures that this study was performed at were lower than we keep our aquariums.

I personally play it safe and live by the 76 day rule myself.
