Hello

Relatively new to setting up an aquarium. I am having a leopard wrasse shipped to me from SaltwaterFish.com and have heard that they can be hard to teach to feed. I have been giving my existing fish the Thera A+ pellets and my LFS said this was a good overall food to give as it has garlic an helps the immune system and MOST fish will eat it.

1) How do I "teach" my leopard wrasse to eat this type of food? If not, are there any other suggestions? I also occasionally use the frozen mysid shrimp but would rather wean all of my fish off of this onto the Thera A+.

Any help or opinions is appreciated

Adam

You can try buying garlic extreme and soaking the food in it before feeding the fish, or put 1 drop of the garlic per 10 gallons directly into the tank before feedings but some fish will not simply adapt to whatever food you want, in many cases you need to research the fish and their appetite to feed them what they will eat and thrive on. Many fish also have multiple dietary requirements or suggestions that should be followed along with a variety of foods so if they stop eating one food you have other preparations to keep them healthy.

Your Leopard will most likely not eat the pellets (but anything is possible). A large portion of their diet consists of copepods and mysis shrimp. I would just try a large variety of foods until you find something that works and stick with it.

I would recommend feeding with frozen mysis shrimp. You could also try Reef Frenzy, frozen foods, as I have found they are beneficial in getting picky eaters enticed to feed.
