Help with firefish

Hey guys, not sure if this is normal or not but I recently got an exquisite firefish a few days ago, he has been doing well but this morning I found him sideways on top of my heater. I freaked out and moved the heater, it took him a second but he swam away and went into a pvc pipe and is sideways again. Not sure if he is just sleeping or if something is wrong with him

Firefish act weird for about a month in a new tank. Mine lays sideways in the back behind a rock still and I have had him for 3 months... If he is eating alright he may just have the new tank jitters.

Were the lights still out? Does he have a place to hide in your rock work? I dont think I've ever seen where my firefish sleeps.

He’s in a qt tank so it’s just a few pvc pipes lying around. I fed him this morning and he ate so I’m thinking he may have just been sleeping but it seemed pretty weird

Prob just sleeping then. Normally he would do that in a cave or hole so you wouldnt notice.

They love to jump? Mine never goes near the top of the tank. It stays mid depth or closer to the bottom.

Mine jumped into my mesh top yesterday and got stuck. Luckily I was standing there and just tapped his little head back through.

I just never considered it would be a jumper at all. I feel like a lot of time when fish jump, it's because they are startled. When firefish are startled, they tend to dive into a cave or hole, not swim upward. But I have a mesh cover anyway so I'm safe!
