Hi all!

Trying to plan my first aquariums sticking list. Cycle will be done shortly.. Hopefully...

Anyway aquarium is a 65 gallon 36x18x24. And plans for this tank is a 90% softy aquarium with lps maybe a sps or so later on down the road... So fish must be reef safe, and dont want any fish that can throw sand all over corals on bottom. And please don't say I can't keep a fish due to size.. I've read months and decided on two that are pushing it and I'm not even 100% sure due to that.

O. Clowns x2
Thinking a type of wrasse but not sure?
Yellow tang (not 100% due to size)
Tomini tang (not 100% due to size) (not both tangs together maybe 1)

I love dwarf fish but here it's a 50/50 shot with them.

I would like to get around the 6 fish mark if possible.
Any thoughts or recommendations are welcome! Thanks

2 designer clowns would be nice,The tomini tang would do great,I realy like flasher wrasse the mccoskers flasher is my favorite. And maybe some blue/green chromis or blue reef chromis?

Thanks for reply! The flasher wrasse is awesome! Can't believe I've never stumbled apon that one!

And yea, the 2 clowns are for sure! Will be first I add.
I'm in love with tangs and narrowed it down to them 2 at first I always wanted a yellow tang but the tomini is growing on me! But I do still want a yellow fish...

Would like to hear from others as well! (:

I, personally, wouldn't put any tang in a 3 foot tank.

As for a yellow fish, a couple come to mind -- Centropyge heraldi, IME, better in a reef tank than a Lemonpeel.
A slightly different yellow fish is a golden sailfin blenny;

Stay with the easiest fish. Tangs are great and they will only grow to the size of tank. Cardinals do good also. Clowns seem to do okay also. When you get more experience you might want to try the harder type fish. But i recommend the hardier fish so you can enjoy without spending lots of money.

Clowns are a riot. Buy them as a pair. I've read they get along better if you put them in the tank at the same time. I haven't had much luck with chromis.

12g Nanoreef. Zooanthids, Ricordia, Star Polyps, Acans and two clownfish. CF Lighting, 75% actinic blue, 25% 10,000k white.

I haven't seen any actual proof that tangs will grow to the size of the tank. Wouldn't want to shoehorn one into a 3 footer -- but that is just me.

IMO tangs need a 48 x 18 footprint min
Lots of nice fish for that size tank. Many wrasse species are fun to watch and stunning

Thanks everyone for responding!
Please don't hijack thread as to tank size of tangs. I understand concerns and thanks for input, But that's not what my topic is for. As stated not even sure if I shall as I know space is limited... But those where 2 I had thought about.

And yes the clowns will be the first fish to go in, both at the same time also.

And thanks for showing me other yellow fish! One of which I had never heard of.

I have had Tangs for 8-10 years in my 100 gallon tank and they have not got too big at all. They seem to acclimate to tank tank size,

If I end up getting a tang it would be a yellow, kole, or tomini. They are all growing on me.

Anyone else have any ideas for reef safe fish?

Another nice yellow fish is a yellow corris wrasse check them out
