40B/20L sump. Sicce Syncra 2.0 return. MP10es on one end & WP10 opposite end.
I do not believe that I'm getting enough flow over my SB. I would like to increase it but not sure how to go about this without stressing out my LPS corals, all of which are on the SB. I watch them at night while sweepers are out and I see good movement as is.
But the issue is I'm seeing fish poop sitting on the SB. I've tried stirring it up a little but still it won't get picked up by the flow. Must be some heavy you know what-lol.
The mp10 is on es mode turned up to 5th led. The wp10 is on H3/S1 mode turned all the way up. You can see the pumps in pic.
Should I move them?

I would offset them a little from each other maybe even move one to back of tank in the middle. I run several ph in my 90 though. I am running 2 wp25 and 3 wp10 at the moment and plan to add another wp10. This way I can run the 10's on else most of the time and they are not so harsh and the 25's on w1. I it possible for you to add another? I would recommend as much flow as you can get without a sandstorm.lol

They will probably be enough but you will have to move them around a little to get the flow you desire. Have you tried one low and one high? I keep one low in tank pointing up to help pull crap off the sand, also added a brittle star to eat it and a fighting conch. I will say after a few weeks in the tank my sand looks much better, maybe you could add a brittle or a conch or both. They aren't very expensive. I am not a sand cleaner so I let them do the work.

While I know a lot of people like the left and right powerhead configuration I have always been a fan of power heads on the back wall pointed slightly to the side wall in front corner to allow water to circulate directionally that way to me this pushes the fish poop around one gives a better flow across the sand bed.

Additionally with the wp40s I had in my 180 having one in else mode and the other in w1 did a great job of random currents.

Now i have them at 40% max with a 3 second pulse on each. One is back wall top left. Other is back wall bottom right with my sump return pointing at front glass.

Well tomorrow is WC day so I'm gonna move the pumps around a bit. Maybe put the wp10 on the back wall/middle. See how that goes. I'm just concerned about my Birds Nest getting the proper amount of flow...first/only SPS, don't wanna kill it :)

@pickupman-where would you put the power heads? One is an mp10es the other a WP10. What modes? Lol

If you put one on back wall you will be amazed at the flow you get in tank. Lot shorter distance.
Just move them around a little till you get the birdsnest moving every few seconds, I think they say every 3 seconds or so but birdsnest are ok under lower flow than acro or other sps

So here's where I placed the WP10. Just wish I had the directions for the dang thing, so I know which flow option to use. For now it's on "else" mode turned all the way up. The MP10es is on Reef Crest mode turned up to 6th LED.

I found something interesting when I was descaling my wp40. While rinsing it in a bucket I plugged it in to help rinse away the vinegar. Without the magnetic mount it vibrated at different levels making slower and faster sounds as I want through the various programs. It really helped me understand what each mode did as far as ramping up and down and on/off cycles.

Tonight at lights out I'll be able to tell a little better once the sweepers come out. It all looks good though :) Birds Nest is getting good flow and my sand isn't blow around. I thinks this is gonna work just fine!

Good deal. I like the look of it on the back also. I plan to move my 25s around when I get time to change up the flow in my tank also.

Keep tinkering and you'll get the flow just right! I have a 40B and my fighting conch keeps the sand bed pristine; look into one if you are still seeing detritus on your sand bed

WindeyD do you ever see your conch? I have one but I haven't saw it since I put into tank when it buried into sand.

My Fighting Conch buried itself for a week or two initially but now is out more than buried

Haha picked up a fighting Conch on Saturday...how bizzar! Anyways the thing buried itself and I haven't seen it since. But it did stick it's lil trunk out :)

I've seen many posts stating that folks' conchs don't move around all too much; mine is constantly in motion during the day and buries itself at night. I'm not sure why some are super active and others are not..
