I have a shallow tank 84"x24"x16". I was told by someone of a reputable company I should run 2 gyre 250 on this tank. I was running the lunar tidal cycle when adding new fish from QT. Well they seemed really stressed from flow and I lost a blue eye kole tang the same day I added it. I waited a few days and added 3 barrier reef chromis, and they also had trouble with the flow. I have since disconnected one of the gyre, and they are fine. Could the 2 be too much flow for my tank?? Thanks

How are your parameters? I doubt two gyres can create enough flow in an 84" tank to kill a fish. How long have your tank been set up?

edit: is the tank just an empty frag tank or does it have rocks to hide?

Sorry for your loss. I doubt the flow was so extreme that it killed the tang. Can you post a video with just one running?

Agreed, my guess is the tang had a disease. Velvet kills quick.

I lot of flow is good for a system, I would say that the fish were stressed by the transition from QT to tank. In the QT are you feeding products with vitium C to help with the stress? What are you feeding in the QT? How long has the system been setup?

I have a pair of clowns that have been in tank for 3 months, several starfish, and clean up crew. The clowns stay in same spot all the time, but I know how clowns can be so I never really thought about it until added new fish. Upon adding the chromis today they were really struggling with both gyre running. They almost hit the rockwork several times. After disconnecting one they seem ok now. I will post a video when I get time with one running and both when I get a chance. the return is a jebao dc12000 running on 2 which is still a lot of flow.

In QT I fed LRS reef frenzy daily and nori every other day.. The fish were in QT for 30 days, and had no signs of disease. 10 gallon tank with 70 gallon aquaclear HOB filter for QT.
