I got this rainbow fungia plate during the living reef live sale and it came in dull. I had it next to my other one, but it kinda never perked up- tentacles seem small and mouth is hanging open- I moved it to a less lighted area and it doesn’t seem to be improving it seems to be getting worse - all my other stuff is good….any ideas? I don’t wanna lose it! It’s losing its orange around the outside and coloration. I’ve included photos of my green fungia for comparison. I’m stumped.

salinity is 1.025
Phos is .05
Nitrates are 5-10
Temp 78ish

Test results -

1.025 salinity
PH 8.3
Mg - 1250
Ca - 425
Phos - .12 (this was a little high, so I cleaned out the scrubber - which it needed)
Nitrates - 9.6

Anyone have any ideas? I did a 5 gallon (106 gallon system) WC today and will do prob 15 more tomorrow.

Low flow and shade to heal , do you feed it ? I have no experience with plate coral but heard they can be tricky

Yeah, I love plates. I've never had an issue with them in the past like this. I've spot fed it a couple times and did again today. It is eating, but it's coloration is very poor and not getting better. I'm at a loss.

I've still got this plate....looking for some insight. It's still brown, but it's alive and it's tentacles are "fuzzy". It's moved itself slightly out of the shade into the light on the bottom of my tank. Current parameters:

PH - 8.3 (tested during day)
Nitrates - 9.5
Phos - .08 (scrubber is cleaned out and growing again - switched to 24/7 light in the scrubber)
Magnesium - 1250
Ca - 425
Salinity - 1.025

I've dosed aminos this weekend in hopes it helps, it looks slightly better than what it was but it's still brown and lacking it's coloration. I've been spot feeding it randomly just to make sure it's still actively taking food and in hopes that it'll bring it around. So it's been eating fine, but no real progress.

if ANYONE has any advice, I'm listening. The rest of my corals are fine. I'm considering lowering my lights to get a bit more PAR to it, but I don't want to do anything that'll stress it further. Thanks.
