Help with goniopora

My goniopora has been doing great for awhile. All of a sudden today I see a patch of it look like below...like dead area or something. Any idea what could have caused it?

Overall, it looks very healthy. Have you tried blowing off that area, like with a turkey baster?

Does the flow push up and against the rock there? So the odd-area is where the flow hits it first?

Mine does that on the side that gets the flow first, if the flow becomes very fast it will do that.

Hi, no the flow is mostly indirect and doesn't hit the spot. No response with turkey baster. The white patch almost looks permanently dormant now but used to have tentacles there. The nearest tentacles are retracted around it.

Is there anything near it that could have possibly stung with sweepers?

Do you spot feed this? They can be kept in our tanks but you need to make sure it is getting food.

They can be tricky I had one in the front part of my reef for about six months then it started to not want to open up all the way. I moved it to around back with less flow and now its happy. As with many corals you just need to find the right spot for them.
