Hello, I have a newer 210g (6 mo) FOWLR tank that I set up from an established (2yr) 75g FOWLR. I’ve transferred nearly everyone and I have been battling high nitrates (5-15) and phosphates (.03-.5 in the new tank but keeping them in a reasonable range with consistent AWCs (10 gallons/day). Today I noticed this white/ clear stuff on the rocks and I have no clue what it is. Can anyone ID it so I can formulate a plan to manage it?

IMO that looks like bacteria. Nothing to fear as it will pass. Try increasing the flow. I wouldn’t waist salt on all those water changes. In a FOWLR you have no worries with those nitrate/ phos.#s. My FOWLR tanks run with nitrates in the 80s.

Thank you!
