New tank started end of August. Seeded with some live rock from my LFS which had some smaller patches of deep red "algae" on the rock when introduced. Hard, does not blow off with turkey baster. A couple of days ago, one of the patches " puffed up" going from flat to looking almost like small tentacles which move with tank flow. Pic is under white light showing the "puffy" patch on the right as well as an adjacent deep red patch at lower left, which is what it looked like previously. Any ideas? TIA

I have Gulf Live Rock that I got several months ago that had the same.
I'm pretty sure the red puffy thing is a type of red bubble algae and the dark red patch is a type of encrusting/plating sponge.

Edit: After some quick online research, the bubbles are most likely Botryocladia occidentalis.
The bubbles were elongated at the start for some of mine, but later the stem grew longer and the bubbles are now small and round.
