Here are a couple of microscope pictures and video of what I believe might be diatoms but honestly not sure. Will try and get better pictures on my break.

This happened after treating the tank for prorocentrum dinos with sodium silicate for 4 weeks (dinos were spilled in the tank when removing my in-tank UV hose). Dinos are gone but this appeared about 2 weeks ago. I tried Phosguard to remove silicate but it didn’t help. Also, what is...

When I saw them moving around that pretty much confirmed dions but now need to figure out a course of action ASAP. They are not all that bad yet but do cover the sand.

You need to do a video with 400x magnification or more. Then people will help you id them.

Some you can do black-out, hydrogen peroxyde or other methods and others you need to dose sodium silicate.

working on that have a break in about 2 hours and going to get back on the microscope and try to get some.

Put a little internal 3w UV on for now. I phone takes horrible pictures and I couldn’t get the microscope camera to work this afternoon to get a good 400X picture. Still researching which Dino’s they are but I do know first thing in the morning they are not as bad looking so I know they get into the water column. Changing out socks every two day and the IV might help a little. Have new reagent coming in for phosphorus checker and tomorrow taking a water sample to LFS to get it checked against what I have tested. I have a feeling a battle is coming and as my wife would say I would argue with a fence post so I will beat these.
