Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the little thing in the pics is. It seems to have black that's attached to the rock then stringy legs or branches ir whatever. The leg thingys seem to move around and go in and out like catching food. Just wanna see if its friend or foe.So far uI've found two.

Are these hitch hiking corals? If you bought the 1st coral than my ID might change.

1. Rose coral/Manicina areolata if it came in on rocks.
2. Blushing star coral/Stephanocoenia perhaps.
3. Red Bubble Algae/Red Valonia, surrounded by Hydroids.

Then regarding the two corals that would be my best guess. Looks to be Caribbean live rock.

:-)

[Qo post: 2940691, member: 48430"]I would carefully remove the bubble algae and hydroids. :)[/QUOTE]
The piece with bubble algea and hydroids is actually small so i scooped it up held the top part out of the water and tweezed the bubble algea by what i hope was the root then redipped rock for moment and then pulled top part out again and tweezed all hydroids i could. Hopefully got them all. Gonna keep close eye on it. Im super paranoid about something bad breaking out in the tank and having to do major work to fix it. I have 3 children from 4 to 12 weeks old and CAN NOT afford the time to do a major overhaul....lol...so i try to post anything new thats suspicous beforeoit breaks out. I have a small crab ive seen twice that concerns me but i cant get a pix he is too fast. Hope he isnt a mean one but he still very small at the moment

Sounds good, excellent job. You can attempt to trap the crab later if he turns out to be an issue.

And oh my :eek:I can not even imagine how you manage the hobby with such young children, you must really love having a tank.
