I have been looking for a healthy anemone for my 180 and my LFS had this beauty labeled as a Ritteri. I looked it over and it seemed pretty healthy but it had just arrived and it was hard for me to confirm the Id. Something is making me think this is a green LTA and I should move it to the sand bed. Any help with the I’d?

Looks like a mag.

Edit: Your second pic has white verracue? spots on the column?

yes. I have a 15g tank I can set up if needed. I have read all of the sticky threads on the treatment.

The yellowish verrcuae on the top of the column is what has me questioning the id. I can't find any photos showing a mag with this many and of this color.

I wanted to be sure it really is a mag so I can try and make it happy with flow and light.

Interesting. Is it staying in that position or moving its foot down? I'm not really sure.

It seems to not want its foot out in the open. That is another reason I am confused. Maybe I should just move the rock to the sandbed and if it wants to move down it can.

This is going to be a long night because I want to make sure it is settled before I go to bed.

Yes. They are kind of yellowish in color. Also the column changes from orange/reddish to white near the top.

Here is a shot showing how it seems to be trying to attach under another rock. I am just not sure.

This photo shows the verrucae much better.

An even better shot. Looks more like LTA to me.
Anyone else have any thoughts ? Thanks.

I agree with lta. These newer pics are better. Looks healthy. Id let it make its own way down since its already attached to the rock.

Or if you have the room, I would remove that bottom white rock the nem is attached to and place the rock on the sand next to your base rock.

i am going to try and move it. I know it would prefer to bury its foot. It looks really healthy so I am not too disappointed.

It was easy to move the men. Definitely an LTA it looks super happy and seems to be burrowing down.
Thanks for the advice Lance.

I agree @davocean . There have been several nice LTA at my LFS the past couple of weeks. I guess it was meant to be. The LTA will be much easier to take care of.
I have kept many anemones, but never a mag or a gig. Someday I will find a healthy mag.

^^ Agree.

I love LTA's and Malu's for mixed reefs, they stay in sand bed, makes easy to keep from corals.

I wanted a mag for a long time too, what I have now.

You'll find one, and cool thing is you could keep both.
