Please help me ID the jelly like substance I found in my tank. The two photos are likely two different things.

Looks like some sort of sponge or tunicate. Harmless filter feeder.
 
+1 sponge. Nothing to worry about.

Sorry. Top is a sponge. Bottom tunicate of some kind.
+1 That's the right answer I think. tunicate and sponge (if not and both to be sponges) some sponges look like that, to can the water flow pass the walls of it and to escape from the single hole (tunicate you have to find for single body 2 separate holes always (almost), which I can't see.
So both of the photos show to me sponges
touch it gently and push it against the rock wall, if it retract it self from the stress a bit more it's tunicate, if no it;s simply sponge (tunicates are really sensitive to touches and look like squeezed ball after some stress/touch/pushing)
