Hello all, can anyone tell me what this red, hard, spiny, algea like hitchiker in my tank is?
The patches of it are mostly out of the light on a piece of live rock with recordia mushrooms on it.
Is it something to worry about? If so how do I get rid of it?
My tank is about 3 years old, good light, low nutrients, all my corals including acros seem happy. Dispite my best efforts to dip and inspect everything I’ve had all sorts of hitchhikers get into my system over the years.

The images are a little blurry, but perhaps these are Foraminiferans (I am less convinced that they are sponges due to the "tufts"). They are said to be harmless filter feeders in captivity.
