My tank is about 4 1/2 months old and would like some help with identifying where I’m at in the ugly phase.

Nitrate 10
Phosphate.06
Salinity 35
Alk 8.5

You are in the ugly phase. when you begin to see coralline algae on glass & rock then you are progressing thru the ugly phase.

In looking at your rock & substrate, I assume you started with dry substrate & dry rock. If you wish to progress thru the ugly phase faster, I suggest you consider increasing diversity and add some diver collected live rock.

When I hear diver collected live rock risk pest and I see tanks languishing in the uglies of opportunistic nuisance algaes I have trouble understanding the trade off.

I would gladly trade for these hitchhikers:

I my have to get some base rock and locate it in the sump, I have plenty of room down there. I already have a bunch of left over dry rock down there that could be swapped out.
