You are in the ugly phase. when you begin to see coralline algae on glass & rock then you are progressing thru the ugly phase.
In looking at your rock & substrate, I assume you started with dry substrate & dry rock. If you wish to progress thru the ugly phase faster, I suggest you consider increasing diversity and add some diver collected live rock.

When I hear diver collected live rock risk pest and I see tanks languishing in the uglies of opportunistic nuisance algaes I have trouble understanding the trade off.

I my have to get some base rock and locate it in the sump, I have plenty of room down there. I already have a bunch of left over dry rock down there that could be swapped out.When I hear diver collected live rock risk pest and I see tanks languishing in the uglies of opportunistic nuisance algaes I have trouble understanding the trade off.
