I purchased two clowns today. One is a misbar, the other seems like a black photon juvenile? They don’t seem to be a straight Ocellaris or straight percula.
Picked them up at Petco for 14.99 each. They had a 25% off sale on marine fish and corals.

I’m going to say there probably percula clowns. The problem is these pet stores mix and breed so many different types of clowns together that you never really know what your getting for sure

I was going to say oscellaris due to the eye color being a darker color typically percula have a pretty orange coloring in the eye. But i would agree with you @MysticBlue about the breeding habits. Even a trusted lfs has issues sometimes identifying true percula and false sometimes i catch perculas with ocellaris at mine and let them know for them to respond we were wondering why they were beating him up smh
...still good looking clowns and price makes it even better

They claim to be ORA. As soon I seen the misbar I HAD to have him. I seen the one that was paired with him and decided to take that one as well to reduce the stress.

These are Percs with one being a misbar

Sorry to hijack your thread but I need to say this again. Just want you all who have fresh water to be aware of this stuff. Please don't get mad at me for this.

I wish people would stop supporting Petco. A while back I posted about a natural ick treatment, not medication, that killed so many of my fresh water fish. They say will not harm fish and plants, someone also asked in the Q&A section if it can be used for plecos. Petco says absolutely fine. Well most of my prized plecos died the next day along with a few other fish, I used just under the recommended dose to start the first day. Imagitarium Parasite Remedy, Nontoxic natural herbal alternative to medication.

One of my cichlids looked like it was coming down with ick so I thought I would try this first, I was so heart broken. I emailed, telephoned them and no words of sympathy or apology, nothing. They lost my respect, I don't care if they are giving away fish and corals at 90% off, I will never do business with them ever again until they remove this product from the shelves or put a warning label on the bottle. Thank you for reading this.
Why didn’t you just post this separate? This was really off topic lol

Yes I did post this on here a few months ago, but when ever I see Petco mentioned it brings back that memory and just want people that still shop there to know about my experience just in case they did not read my post. Sorry, I know it is off topic and if I upset the OP I apologize to LiveRockDaddy, and if it really bothers anyone I will not do this again.
Each petco is different the guys that run my petco aquarium department all have very established saltwater tanks i would say it depends on the area or store. The petco i go to even qt fish for a certain period of time when arriving to check for any illness and will refus to sell if something is off sorry for your misfortune but you cant label all stores to ones experience. @vetteguy53081 can you reasoning behind why you would think they are perculas just interested for my future knowledge is all

Yes I know and I have purchased many fish from petco that I still have 7 years later. I never had any issues with fish or corals, some stores have good and bad salt water setups.

It just bothers me that Petco will not acknowledge my recent experience with their own product and how harmful it is, no response from them. No apology or is there anything we can do to help, nothing. That product is dangerous to fish and people need to know.
My thread was not the place to talk about your experience with Petco. The only reason I chose them was because the big store near me was not clean at all, which really upset me because I did a lot of business with them in the past with my previous FOWLR. My Petco had a great selection of fish and were transparent with their water testing parameters. I only put the store and price incase I had scored a great deal. This should have been a separate thread. It was foolish to hijack it because of a name mention.

All I can do is say I am sorry. This will not happen again.

It happens a lot though on here lol better get used to it lol but anyway different subject I wonder why they were only $15 I don’t think I’ve ever seen a deal like that I’m a very long time. Again like I said it’s very difficult to nail down exactly what type they are due to all the mixed breeding going on.

Your good just next time either start a separate post or make your comment a lot shorter on that subject lol!! It was like I was reading a book lol
Yes sorry about that.

I will agree, some stores have excellent fish at good prices which I think LiveRockDaddy got a good deal. Just the corporation itself I have a problem with. I hope your fish live a long and healthy life LiveRockDaddy. I still have my Yellow Tang going on 7 years now from them, got him for $20 because he was skin and bones, fat and happy now.
