Hi all, check out these photos and see what you think is attached to the tang. Unfortunately he passed away not long after these photos were take. Long white stringy stuff coming off the fins and attached to the body.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

The first photo slightly resembles copepod egg masses, but I think this fish had either a bacterial infection, or a mix of protozoans and bacteria.
Are there other fish in the same tank?
Jay

Thanks Jay. Yes clown fish are okay. Fire fish perished afrer and royal grammar currently not eating.

Do have the ability to treat them in a quarantine tank? A broad spectrum antibiotic and copper should cover the majority of the issues that this could be.

Hi Jay, this morning I have lots of small white dots moving around on the aquarium glass? Does that provide any insights?

No, most tanks grow populations of worms, copepod, isopods and amphipods that can be seen on the glass, they aren’t parasites, but can be a sign of over feeding.

Yeah I think that is the root cause of a lot of the issues. May have don’t a bit overboard a few weeks ago feeding and cause an ammonia spike that killed two of the fish. Have dialled the feeding right down and see how we go! Thanks heaps for your advice!
