I recently purchased a inkbird dual controller and i'm trying to set up. I'm watching videos on how it works and come to find out the temp probe that comes with it isn't waterproof. I don't understand what the purpose of the probe is if it can't be left in the tank to monitor the temp????? I feel like it's impracticable to have to drop it in the tank every time I need to find out what the tank temp is. How are you guys using yours? Any advice is appreciated thank you

If the model you have has the removable/replaceable probe, you can purchase the waterproof/marine temperature probe and swap it out.

Here is the model I use on both of my tanks. It has heating and cooling controls and replaceable temperature probe.

Ugh unfortunately this one doesn't have a removable probe.

Dang. Can you maybe return that model and replace it with this one?
I got it on amazon so that's probably an option. When I researched this I looked up the models that can be used on aquariums, I didn't run across anything about the probe not being waterproof until I got to the how to program videos on youtube. I've wasted so much money on small dollar dry goods. This is killing me

I have a 308 wifi controller, it came with a metal tipped probe, I imagine I will have to change it one day. Overall great controller and I love the alarm functions.
I’d be using one for aquaria to be honest, not vivariums. The green cased units are for greeny planty things, blue cased, for watery things, I presumed.

Yeah ultimately I blame myself for not researching this more. Like I said I googles inkbird heater control for aquariums and this is what came up.

I suppose you could smother the probe in aquarium silicon, or stretch some thin silicon tubing over it and bung up the open end. Would make it a bit less sensitive but shouldn’t cause a problem. Obviously a free replacement would be ideal. Good luck.
