Help with JBJ ATO

It might be worth taking a look at the instructions and also deconstructing it all.

1. Remove ALL sensors from their positions and their outlets (since they're interchangeable it doesn't matter which is which, only where they're plugged in.

2. Un plug the JBJ unit.

3. place floats back into their positions and plug them back in according to the instructions found here:http://jbjaquariums.com/media/ATOManual.pdf
Good idea. Like a hard reset.

I flipped the switch and will do the reset once I get home. Thank you for the advice !

As for your monti...where are you located? Maybe somebody will chime in to replace yours. If you live near me, pretty sure I can get you hooked up.

I wish... there are people in my area that have lots of coral and I’ve made business with them but they are really stingy .

So I came back from a 4 days trip and the ato failed to do its job but Both resivor and in tank sensors are working . I push the In tank sensor up and water come out the hose into the tank. Why is that ?
If you need to raise the censor in the tank to get the pump to run you are setup backwards. The pump should kick on when the in tank float switch drops, the water will rise, causing the float switch rise and turn off the pump.

Raising a sensor typically simulates lowering the water.

I did a hard reset like suggested but will still be buying another type of ato. Anyone know where to find the serial number and product number ? Trying to fill out the warranty card
Not surprised they didn’t give any instructions

typically, yes. but some people do install their float switches upside down, but with a different controller like an apex. jbj can’t do that. ;)

I've been using my float switches upside down with one for about 18 months. All the unit cares about is mechanical contact on the switch. The JBJ controller is really nothing more than a relay.

i’m guessing you had to also switch the sensor ports?

No, you can just flip the sensor if you want it to work the other way. Watch this starting at 1:02

so yeah, switching the sensor mode. that’s what i figured but i never tried it with a jbj. threw mine away after one month.

that’s how I’ve been running mine for about five years now

I have gone to smart ATO. Last couple of JBJ units had sticky floats or controller sensor delayed causing near overflow or not filling at all. Too risky for me
