I have a BRS dosing pump and a timer. How do I figure out the appropriate timer settings. For example, how many minutes per hour should I run the pump? I'm trying to raise my alkalinity.

Depends on coral load And tank size. Some guys run there’s just at night. Personally I have a 90g with a lot of sps and I run mine 24/7 and still have to supplement.
on my 210g sps dominant I run a kamoer peristaltic at 4 ml/min 24/7.
Finding need is a bit of trial an error. Just know coral consumption increases during the day. So you can increase at night running at night and it’ll give you ph increase as well.

I did. I've been dosing it for 5 days in my ATO. I want to switch to the dosing pump because I don't want to run my ATO pump.

If you know the amount you want to dose, based on calculation or that 5 days of experience, just split up the dose during the time you want to dose. Some pumps may have to run most of the time to dose enough.

Dose at night to keep the daily pH low from getting as low.

Dosing during the day to stabilize alkalinity more since it declines mostly during the light cycle.

I should also mention that my tank is all soft corals with the exception of a Duncan and Candy Cane. The tank is a little over a year old. All my corals were going very well and then the Duncan, candy cane, & cespitularia are looking bad.

My parameters are:
pH 7.8-8.0
Alk 6.5-7
Phosphate 0-0.03 (trying to get that up)
Nitrate 10-14
Calcium 400-440

I use a kamoer dosing pump and I use all 24 time slots available to break up the dosing throughout the day. I drip about 70-80% of the kalk at night after lights out to combat pH drop. To find out how much to dose I use my alk value and test 24 hours after my set dose schedule to see if what I dosed kept the same alk. Since kalk is balanced I do not test calcium.

hope it helps!
