Hey guys I was wondering if there was a way to be linked to my ap700 and be able to control the lights while not home. Currently I have noticed the lights wig out and won’t turn on randomly. In that case I use my firstick so android tablet when not home or my iPhone when I am home. I notice the iPhone stays paired and the tablet sometimes takes a minute. How do I connect to WiFi or my apex and control it besides the on off on apex

Hi There. I have the AP700 and unfortunately, you have to use the Kessil app to control the light. The light, as you know, is equipped with its own wifi so of course you have to be somewhat near it to program it. Also, there is no program or device to operate the light via the apex yet. The best thing to do is play around with it and find a program you like and test it out. If you are having issues with the light, I would suggest giving Kessil a call.
If your phone or tablet keeps connecting to it to the Kessil wifi, I believe you can deselect the option to automatically connect and that should solve that issue.

Thanks but programming it isn’t the problem. The problem is I can’t control it when I am not home. So when it bugs out and does not turn on I cannot do anything other than turn the power on or off from my apex which doesn’t solve the problem.

I hear you. I'm not aware of a way to control it away from home. @crabs_mcjones may know of a way if there is.

The Kessil AP700 is not able to be controlled away from home. You either have to be connected to the light's own wifi signal directly via your phone or tablet, or connected to the router that you have the light set up to. Currently there is not a way to control the light from anywhere.

Figured such. I wonder if there is a way I can connect to my home Wi-Fi not from home maybe a third party. No aquabus yet for apex and kessil? Hmmn

All 9 of my Kessil A360we's are controlled through my smart home system. https://www.control4.com
In fact my entire system is controlled by them. auto top of, evaporation, water changes, temperature, every aspect of my system can be controlled by Control4 . they have water detection devices, i have overflow swithched on the tanks that if the water rises to high they shut off the supply pumps and cycle them on/off every 5 minutes until I can address the issue. There is almost nothing this system can't do in the control world. Plus email and text support if any triggers are alarms are set off. Not sure on the AP700, but it should work.

That sounds cool but I already have an apex fully setup on every single thing I have with two energy boards so I do not want to switch just mainly be able to have ability to do anything while not at home like the rest of my tank

What more information are you looking for? There isn't a way to control the AP700 unless you're connected to your homes wifi router or to the AP700's own wifi signal.

Looking for a way man haaha a way to do exactly that connect to your home Wi-Fi or if there is a router like that or can use the vpn number like those apps that change your location that very way

Let me do some digging and I'll see what I can come up with.

I found a couple articles in regards to port forwarding or port mapping, but all were unsuccessful. Unfortunately I don't have an answer for you :( Good luck in your search though :)

You've just found the Achilles heel of the fixture; the software sucks. There is no supported way to accomplish what you want. If you feel like beating your head against a wall, give Kessil an email and let them know your issue:

I'll spare another rant on the AP700, but perhaps with some of the competition getting Apex support soon (AI HD& Maxspect), it might give them a kick in the butt. I'm not sure if Neptune has had any contact with them about the AP700, @Terence would probably be the only one able to answer that. I know a year or so ago there was a hobbyist posting somewhere (might have been another forum) about trying to DIY a controller for it since the fixture seemed to have an off the shelf IC, but I can't find it now.
