Hey all, I think my lights are on too long. 2 Blue+ are on for 10 hours and 1 new gen and 1 fiji purple on 8.5 hours. I think this is also causing some of my cyano issues. What is a proper amount of time the lights should be on? Thanks!

What setup do you have? T-5 I assume...I would start with actinics on for 8 hrs, all bulbs on for 4-6. From here watch your corals and continue to increase the photoperiod slowly(like over a few months) until you are happy with the color/growth, though lighting is only one contributor.

I agree also the cyano might also be from the bulbs being worn out and high nutrient levels. when is the last time you replaced your bulbs?.. and what type of skimmer do you run/have? What type of skim do you collect?

The tank is 5 mos old and I don't over feed. I run my skimmer wet since I have SPS up high in my tank. The fixture is a 4 bulb aquatic life fixture. It has great reflectors and is an awesome fixture. I have had these corals under 10 hours for about 2 years now. They were all in a 55 and I upgraded to a 125 and I didn't switch the lighting schedule. I was wanting to decrease it to 8 hours a day total because I have seen a lot of people keeping lights on for only 8 hours.
