I'm having the worst time figuring out what kind of lights to use on a 50 gallon mixed reef tank. I bought a set of "Mars Aqua" off eBay and I'm thinking they're not the best. Now looking at "current USA orbit Marin" Does anyone have any suggestions? And how important is it to have the sunrise sunset moonlight options on the lights?

What are you going to keep in your tank, short term and long term? The Sunrise/Sunset and moon lights are not required. It's more for our own pleasure. The slow ramping of lights helps to keep your fish from freaking out every time the light goes on and off. What are the dimensions of your tank? You may be able to go with several different lights, it depends allot on your budget as well.

Fun, and definitely cool, but not strictly necessary. Mostly those options are for you.

If you want to switch, I'd suggest looking at the Orbit Marine Pro unless you have a very shallow tank. The non-Pro model would only be suitable for a very shallow tank...or you'd need more than one for deeper tanks.

I have a mixed tank. It has a few of all the different types of corals. 2 clownfish, yellow tang, Royal Bassett, Cardinal fish. I'll def check those lights out. Thank you :)
