Looking to purchase 2 A160 Kessils for a 40g (36Lx16Wx13H). Is that enough for some SPS in mixed reef?

I was looking at the kessil AP9x and reefbreeders photon 32 for my 3ft tank. I went with the photon because I liked the panel layout vs the puck style of the AP9x. It lights the tank well but I haven't checked par yet as the tank is still cycling.

How are you planning on mounting your lighting? Can that be changed with time, or is there really only one way you can/want to mount your lighting?

I agree two 360's would do great with lower intensity, but I would get the aquatic life t5 hybrid fixture ( if you are able to mount it easily and t5 works for you) and the 360s, so your light will already be there when you decide to shift more into sps growing, Which you will !! :)

the 360's are great lights I have 3 of them, but they are single point lights that have a tendency to make great shadows just as much as the shimmer they produce.

mixing in the t5 lighting can help cover front and back walls or around coral growth in the future. If not this other lighting combinations work just as well and utilize the shimmer given by the kessil brand, I would just think of shadowing now and in the future with growth that goes along with these single point light sources.

I love the kessil look I have the ap9x as well and I love it for the correct application. The apps are extremely decent. The lights run a little hot but they are great lights with a shimmer I haven't seen in other lights.

:)
