So 2 weeks ago I got 2 volitan lionfish they eat everything I give them but they arnt really active. The lions will lay on the rocks and sometimes stay in the back top of my tank where there's no flow. Are lionfish just lazy or is something wrong with them.

Lions are ambush predators and dont move very quickly unless going for food or escaping harm. From what I can tell, that sounds normal, but we can call in @Lionfish Lair for a little insight on normal behavior for volitans lions.

Volitans can be less active than some of the other lions, especially adults, but all lions can spend a lot of their day perching. They tend to like being high up on the back because as far as they're concerned, it's a great position to check out all their territory. It's nothing to do with flow.

How big are they?

Around 4 inches, I just don't see them swimming as often as they did when I first got them but they still come right to me when I'm in the front of the tank or have food for them.

As long as they're coming to eat, that's a good sign. What's the temp on the tank? Can you grab some pictures?

Temp is 78

I have radions and I turned the lights white so you could see

If they continue to eat, look normal and their eyes are clear, I would assume it's just their nature. If you notice any changes though, let us know.

Volitans are a lazy fish. I kept one for over a year. He always hung out by the overflow, only really swimming when food was added. Mine grew to around 14". He was a big dude. (I'm assuming it was a boy, lol) don't let them fool you though, they are fast and can jump like dolphins

How big is your tank? That's one thing that changed when I moved mine from a smaller tank to a 2 foot wide tank, he started cruising more.

I had mine in a 220, if you look at them in nature they just chill from I've saw.

That's funny, i hear it all the time, but lions pretty much perch and hang unless they are hungry and hunting. They were more active when you first got them because they were hungry, now that you've fed them well they are just chillin'. In the wild they would likely gorge a bit and not eat for a day or two. Feed them well about 2 or 3 days a week and you'll find them more active on your non feeding days. Also check them out at night, I run my night lights longer on my lion tank to watch them hunt.

Just one last question is it normal if one lionfish is a little more orange then the other ? He's colors just pop out more

And yes I see mine "hunting" all the time if I drop a piece of krill on the bottem of my sand bed and they see it move they like crawl with there fins closer idk how else to explain it lol but it's really cool to watch!
