Hi, I added a hofer gurgle buster to my overflow box and it helped quiet down the noise from the display into outer box but the drain line into the sump is REALLY loud. It sounds like im sitting in a hot tub. Any advice would be much appreciated, Thank You

I used the Maggie muffler mini and worked great. Biggest thing that I learned was make sure the drain tube is under the lowest water level of the sump.

yes its the trigger systems emerald sump with separate area for drain lines, they are actually included in the sump you just connect with line from overflow and the water runs over an area with filter socks. This sump is really nice and even includes a cover in that section to help with noise and splashing so I really have screwed this up LOL. The built in tubes are under the normal water level in that chamber.

I remember seeing that muffler thing but isn't that for noise in overflow box? my noise is from the water " dumping " into the sump.

Your noise is because the air in the tube is fighting the water for space. The air doesn't have a large enough hole to escape through the top to end ends up getting pushed out of the end of the drain line.
Simple answer: drill a bigger hole in the top of your drain, and stick a bit of tube down in it to help muffle the sound of the air.

ok I think my hole may be too big. I drilled 1/4 hole in cap for airline tubing and it slides in too easily. Im going to get new cap and drill smaller hole. Thanks for the advice

Actually that's the exact opposite of what you need to do. I'm not sure of the exact size I had to go with but I jammed a half inch drill bit in mine and reamed it out to fit a tube I had laying around. Before you run to the hardware store give what I suggested a shot and save yourself a trip and the 87¢ for a new cap lol. If your planning on getting a new one anyways what's the worse that could happen.
