I saw this coral at my LFS the other day and they have it marked as an Open Brain coral. I am about 90% sure this is incorrect and that it's a Cynarina Lacrymalis (Cat's Eye) instead. The coloring leads me to think it may also be a red variety, but I cannot certain as their lighting for corals is not the best and only devote a couple displays to them.

Can someone out there help me identify this so one? I really like it but want to be sure i'm paying a fair price and can correct them if it's way off base.

Thanks.

Bleached candy cane (trumpet) coral?

I thought about that, especially with it being a branching coral, but I have never seen trumpets this large. The polyps had to be about 2.5 - 3" across, and I have never seen trumpets or canes that large before.

Maybe Lobo .... ? o_O

This was another thought I had, but with the bad lighting it's really hard to tell because I couldn't find one that remotely matched up to this.

I'll see if I can get a better picture of it with more of the stony base.
