Hello,

I am noticing these bumps on my mandarin. Is it of concern? Water parameters are all good. Checked them yesterday. The bumps are mostly located on the head. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help.

Is th he fish a new addition? Any new additions to the tank?

Cant really see in the photos but maybe flukes?

How long have they been there? Ich will stay attached and unmoving for several days, but mandarins can sometimes pick up a grain or two of sand.

Since monday. Got it from LFS it was the only one they had. They weren’t feeding it pods and she was really skinny. It was in a 75 gallon with like 20 other fish.

Hey Mich, I picked one up that developed those, I tried searching everywhere "Mandarin Warts, bumps, etc" I couldn't find any solid info. He didn't have it when I picked him up but I believe they went away. I leaning toward it being sand stuck in the slime coat, the one I had came from a tank with no sand. Off topic I do hope you did your research on this guy, my opinion, have a solid plan in place before even buying one as far as food, are you going to culture copepods, algae to feed the pods, or brine shrimp and hatchery like PaulBs feeder. They have a high metabolism and need to eat constantly, not 1/2 or 3 specific times a day, constantly. Heres some good info to start, https://www.themandaringarden.com/green-mandarin.html

Were the bumps a different color from the skin? I’ve been looking close but it seems like the bumps are continous to the skin.Yes have a refugium with rock and chaeto just poured pods in today. Had them resent bc last package was DOA. Just going to crush some pellets and pour into refugium for pods to eat. Might occasionally feed phyto.

Some were, some were dark maybe slightly pale on othes, if I remember correctly. They honestly just look like bumps.
