HELP with Mantis Tank, levels not going down no matter what I try.

Beautiful I will update you tomorrow when I do the change! I just spent 6 thousand on my red reef set up so it hurts a bit.. but if you could recommend me a filter to order that’s very good I would very much appreciate it thank you!

I personally have not used HOB equipment as I've always had a sump, but the popular option for 40g breeder tanks is the Seachem Tidal 110 and it is very well reviewed. I would also get a skimmer for this tank due to the very high bioload, Reef Octopus makes decent HOB skimmers I would start researching there.

It's unfortunately going to cost a bit more, but if you want to make the tank work without constantly having to change water I think upgrading filtration is your best bet.

I cannot get a sump though because I can’t drill into my tank because it’s tempered…I heard the other options aren’t reliable flood wise. Would love your opinion . I was told that filters great too, what would I dose in it?

I wouldn't try to drill a tempered tank, just use HOB filter. HOB overflows ARE a thing that would allow you to utilize a sump and many people use them, but I understand not wanting to take the associated risk. I have not used one personally, but there are lots of tanks on this forum that do and they are fine.

I am not well versed when it comes to HOB filters so wouldn't want to offer much advice, I just know that the Tidal 110 is a popular reliable choice. I would pair it with a HOB skimmer as well, Reef Octopus has a few popular options.

I’m currently thinking of getting the tunz comline doc skimmer 9004 dc. Let me know your thoughts. Been researching all day and I think is the best option for what I can realistically do at an efficient price and safety for flooding…
