I noticed about a week ago that my Melanarus wrasse had a white mark on its' tail. Now today I noticed the tail area below the mark is missing. I'm thinking some kind of fungus. Does that make sense, and if so how do I treat it? Nothing new has been added to the tank (72 gallon ) for months. I would really appreciate help. Thank you.

I moved this over to the fish disease forum. Not implying it's a disease, but I think you'll get more input here.

Fungus is almost non existent in SW so it is probably a bacterial infection. Has the wrasse been injured in any way (aggression)? Any other symptoms? Can you get a pic?

He could have hit some thing when he buries at night. How would I treat a bacterial infection? I'm older than dirt so grandson would have to post picture and not until this weekend. I would like to get medication started right away. Hopefully something in food or added to water as catching him would probably be impossible! Thanks for your help.
