Hello there

I have set up a new 28 gallon JBJ nano LED and it is almost done cycling. I have added the JBJ inline uv sterilizer but have not turned it on yet, and was attempting to put on an aquamaxx hob-1 when I hit a MAJOR snag.

1) I assembled the skimmer correctly (as far as I can tell) but when I turned it on, all hell broke loose. I was fine while I was priming the pump but as soon as I attached the airline to the silencer it started to overflow in a MAJOR WAY. Within 15 seconds, my overflow cup had filled all the way with water. I had attached some tubing to the blck valve on the side to run back into my tank like was suggested, but even this was not enough. It was overflowing so fast that it was running down all sides of my skimmer from around the cup. I have the O ring all the way on the bottom, but still no luck.

I realize there is a break in period, but it seems like it is overflowing WAY too much to be correct. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I may have done incorrectly? I am adding cycling bacteria, and it has been about 4 days but had added some PH buffer, also adding a two part alkalinity/calcium buffer, but I don't think it would affect the skimmer that much.

Its the break in, this happens to most new ones. Set the collection cup at its highest setting for a few days, until it settles down.
