So I woke up this am to find a raised white dot on my CB. He eats like a pig and has since he arrived 6 months ago. There have been ZERO new entrants into the tank since he was added. The bump is slightly raised. There is no way I can get him out of the tank. I treated with Prazipro this am (increased water agitation for additional oxygen). This is FOWLR tank. Inhabitants are the CB, a one spot fox face, pair of oc. clowns, bicolor blenny, yellow tang, a double saddle and a tear drop. Other than adding the CB 6 moths ago, all other fish (knock on wood) are almost a year old. Fish are fed black worms daily, mix of frozen soaked in selcon and vita chem and live clams (every third day) and nori
three times a week) Thoughts?? I will NOT lose this guy - HELP!!

That looks like Lymphocystis to me - CBs are prone to that, but the timing is odd, I wouldn't expect to see it in a long term captive.

The second photo down *seems* to show some spotting on the clear portion of the tailfin. Is that just an artifact of the photo?

Also, hopefully not reading too much into your photos, but I can see a hint of shadowing on the fish's nape and belly - making it seem a bit thin. Does it go for the clams? If so, I would up the number of days you feed them, they allow for longer grazing time that CBs really need.

Thank you for the reply. He is fat - I promise - must be angle - lol. He has nothing on his tail fin - must be picture quality. He is so active - hard to take a picture. I will feed clams alternate days of Nori sheets :) Not sure what to do - any thoughts?!?!

Is the spot any larger today? If not, I’d wait and just watch it...any treatment will have risks associated with it.

It hasn't got any bigger. I will leave it alone...do you suggest giving the second dose of Prazipro?

That's a tough question; prazi always needs to be multiple doses in order to break the life cycle of the flukes - BUT the symptom this fish is showing isn't a fluke. The question is then, could the fish have a subclinical fluke infestation, and the second dose would help with that - but then there is the cost, plus the risk you always undertake whenever you medicate fish. I'd say not to treat a second time n this case...

It looks like it could be the start of a bacterial infection. I've seen many CBs that have a raised spot on their side like that turn into a bacterial infection within a few days. Keep a close eye on it and be ready to treat with antibiotics just in case because CBs can succumb quickly to bacterial infections.
