I bought a Superman Monti a few weeks ago and suddenly noticed that the polys are no longer raised as they were then. My params seem pretty good. All my other SPS is doing well.

Alk - 10
Amonia - 0
Nitrate - 10
Nitrite - 0.05
Calc - 420
PH - 8.2
Mag - 1500

How long has the tank been set up? There shouldnt be any nitrite in the tank. What type of fish do you have? IME montiporas will show early signs of chemistry swings or when something is off. What your S.G. at?

I'm haven't he same problems. My LFS says I need to nitrates. Mine are at 0. I do see that yours are at 10. He told me to use stump remover. Only add a little. Not to sure about. Although he is a marine biologist I still have to say hummm!

There are many folks here that use KNo3 to bump up their No3. I've used it in the past with good results, just a FYI. No3 @ 4~5ppm is usually a good starting point.

As asked, how old is your tank. You should not see any nitrites. Toxic for most livestock. I'd try to get my Alk to @7 and get your No3 down to @4~5ppm. Have you check for ammonia?

Sorry, I just looked at my log and I wrote in the wrong date of my params. My Nitrite is actually at 0. The tank has been up for about 5 months. There are only 3 fish, one dragonette which eats tigger pods, a clown, and a wrasse.

I'd bet it's your alkalinity. I had all sorts of issues with alkalinity that high. I slowly SLOWLY brought it down to 7.7 and now everything is looking good.

How much light is is getting? I don't think those like getting blasted.

On a side note: How does your dragonette get along with your clown?

Having an alk of 10dkh isn't to bad if you have nutrients. I would be worried about a possible swing that you might not be seeing. Also, what's your salinity at and is it stable?

Dragonette and clown are great. My clown is a little frostbite who's for the last 3 months has been very chill. I lucked out.

Salinity has been stable at 34 ppt for a long time. I really don't ever remember it going up.
