Can someone tell me anything about my snowflake eel? We just got him today and was fine for a couple hours but now for the last 2 hours he's been swimming frantically up and down. Parameters are good all the other fish/corals are fine.

He may just be exploring his new surroundings. How did you acclimate him?

Welcome to R2R by the way!

Thank you!!
Yes, floated him for about 30 min and then added a cup of water every 10 min for about 30 more min. Then dropped him in. He's literally been going up and down for a little over a couple hours now.

They are nocturnal, hopefully you provided enough cave space for him to completely conceal himself. He may disappear for a few days, don't fret; he will eventually get use to your lighting schedule and start to come out. You may see him more after lights out at 1st but he will eventually be out more and more. If you have trouble feeding him, give him some live ghost shrimp until he settles in.

She's probably just a little stressed due to the new environment, but will settle down quickly :)
Eels usually hide as soon as they enter a new tank, then will come out after lights out to explore for a few days or weeks. She may be out and about a lot at first then settle back down once she finds her special place to hide out.

Thank you!! He's still alive so I think he really was just stressed.
