Hey guys, I got this anemone as a gift and I don’t know much about it. It’s listed as a Malu carpet anemone, does this pose a danger to my two clownfish? I put him in the sand near the middle of the tank because I’m guessing he will need a good bit of light? I also have a bta that my clowns haven’t hosted, will these two fight? I got a little freebie frag too and I have no idea what it is. Any help would be appreciated, thanks! It’s very tiny and green with a little mouth in the center. Sorry for the bad pics I will try to get some better ones later

Ok.. I hope you get a few confirmations other than mine, because if I was a betting man (and I am) I would not place a lot of money on my assessment here.

Pic 1. I actually don't think this is a 'true' anemone. I think it is a variety of ricordia mushroom. That being said...scientifically the ricordia mushroom is in the scientific family classification of an anemone... so...while I believe most people in our hobby just refer to them as shrooms and/or ricordia, I don't see a lot of people refer to their shrooms in this family as 'anemones'.

Pic 2. Also a little blurry as you pointed out for my older eyes. But I believe this to be a shroom as well. A side pic might convince me to consider blasto, but I think that unlikely.

Hope this helps.

Oh.. and per your other questions. No, they won't hurt the other livestock in you tank as you asked. Especially considering their locale.

If shrooms (and I truly believe they are), moderate to LOW flow, and not a lot of PAR (light).

Thanks for your response! I have both of them on the sand bed right now so hopefully they will do well there. I just wanted to be sure the “anemone” won’t hurt any of my fish, cleaner shrimp, etc. so that is good news, thanks
