I want to add another few fish to my tank. It is a few year old 90g with a 30g sump/fuge. I have been raising and adding pods as well as live hatching brine shrimp.

Current stock
Foxface lo
Banggai cardinal
2 clowns
Cleaner wrasse
Mandarin
2 skunk cleaner shrimp

I am going to add some peppermint shrimp for aptasia control

for fish I want to add a yellow watchmen goby and a scooter blenny. Or maybe a male one spot mandarin to go with my green female.

does any one see a problem with my choices?

thanks in advance!!

Two mandarins can be tough to sustain

Are you confident you have enough pods? Are you using a brine shrimp feeder or just dumping them in?

I completely understand two would be tough and that is why I am hesitant. I currently just dump the pods and brine shrimp. My mandarin is captive bred so it should eat pellets and frozen but I didn’t quarantine her so I can’t confirm she does. If I add a second, it will also be captive bred and it will get a quarantine to ensure it’s eating.

part of my problem is the wife has decided captive bred fish only so my choices are limited. (Let’s just say the copperband that died yesterday after 7 days of quarantine didn’t help my cause. And yes I’m still sad about this!!)

what about adding a scooter blenny? Same issue as a second mandarin, right?

Yep scooter is the same as the mandarin. I would definately make a feeder. If you just pour brine shrimp in they will swim towards the light (top of the water) which is not where the mandarin hunts. In my tank they would just end up in the sump that way. Feeders are pretty cheap and simple. Oh and make sure you have a male and a female mandarin

Definitely understand I need a male and female-thanks. I will look into a feeder as I see tons of posts about them. I do know the brine stick around the top.

i think I should just keep adding pods, get a feeder and hold off on a second mandarin.
Great advice Kenny. Thanks!!

Sounds like a plan. I'd say once the feeder is in action go for it on the second mandarin. Here's some pics of mine for reference. Let me know if you have any questions about making a feeder (or Paul b might know a thing or two about them as well) ;)
