Help with overflow hole position

Alright I messed up and know its my fault. Is there any options here? I measured from the trim and not the top of the glass. So the top of my overflow is now maybe 3/4 to an inch below where it should be...... I know Im an idiot.

You can get a oveflow box and you will be fine....

Where would I get just another overflow box? This was the glass holes kit for a 700gph

I think you have two options (actually three....don't do anything is one), buy a new tank and start over or put a bulkhead in the existing hole and plug it and re-drill at the right level. I would do this second option moving the Glass-Holes over a little bit, plugging the existing hole.

Maybe use an elbow 90 in the tank to get your level

I would be afraid that bulkhead would create a weak point and would cause a failure

Search on eBay for an overflow box and you will be fine. Just acrylic it at the proper level.

Just to clarify, the OP has an overflow.....it's a Glass-Holes 700 gph....the problem is that he drilled the hole a little too deep.

Those guys at Glass-Holes will never cease to amaze me. When I purchased my Glass-Holes, I asked if it would fit on half inch glass. They said yes and asked if I wanted them to custom cut the bulkheads to fit the 1/2 inch glass. I said yes...at no additional costs....so when I installed the kit, I was done. No cutting on my part. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they could custom drilled the overflow to compensate for the 3/4 inches you are off.

Yeah that gestamation was off. I measured it yesterday and from the top of the overflow to the bottom of the frame lip was 1 3/8".

Easiest fix would be to snag a different overflow box and silicone it in place to raise the water level.
Check youtube for videos on this, you already did the hardest part.

Is that a 40B? If so, I think the easiest, fastest and probably cheapest solution would be to just buy a new tank.

That was going to be an option. Glass holes has sent me a new box at no cost. Even tho I made the mistake not them. Awesome people to deal with!

Glass holes is great. I had a similar situation. I was about 3/8" too low when I drilled the hole in the tank so my water level was below the trim line. I sanded down the bottom of the hole in the back of the overflow box so I could raise it up to where I needed.
