So I made a 10 gal overflow sump for my 10 gal tank. The tank is not set-up yet and I know 10 gal is small for saltwater but I have the time to manage it. Anyways I bought this water pump Hydor Pico Evo-Mag 300 GPH - Barrier Reef Aquariums and the return is only about 20inches and it cannot pump the water strong enough. Any suggestions for a decently priced pump that would work well?

Whats the overflow GPH your looking for?
Quiet One 1200, will pump 296gph at 6' head
Quiet One 2200, will pump 594GPH at 10.5'
Take your pick, Quiet One Pumps are the ones that I recommend. I use them myself.

I have a 10 g tank too and Im planing to buid a 10g sump, can you post pic of your system so i can have an idea of how to start it?
If you can!!!

Im not sure what GPH to look for as this is my first sump build, but the sump was filling up and the pump wasnt returning the water fast or strong enough to do anything

Im going to guess that your using 1" pvc as an overflow then. You can use up to a 900gph return pump, minus head loss. That'll keep up.
If your using less than 1" pvc please adivse.
