hey everyone so I'm thinking of getting a few fish for my reef tank and I don't have a skimmer and obviously wont be running a air pump. So how can I get my oxygen exchange?

is it sumpless?

Yes, very simple and small setup. So I don't need a sump as I've had the tank for 2 years and have always kept nitrates and everything else at the perfect level. Just going to be adding some fish now and need a form of oxygen exchange.

just asking, as the overflow and return will oxygenate. an aquaclear or hob filter like that works in the same way.

Get the top of the water rippling a bit and that should help with gas exchange . Most of the time just pointing a powerhead at the surface will suffice with a small load. I've kept fish in quarantine with only a powerhead and heater for 30-60 days.

If you have a hang on filter of sorts it may be already doing it.

A reverse lighted refugium with macroalgae.

Or put an airstone in the tank temporarily until you get a skimmer
