Will really high par, for about 5-10 minutes, hurt or bleach any of my corals. I have a lot of lower light lps on my sandbed, but would like to put my LEDS to 100% for like 5-10 minutes to get par readings. Will this be okay for a short amount of time, or can it hurt my lps ( trachys, lobos, and plates). When I say really high par, its on the sandbed, so not insanely high, but much higher than they are currently.

For the few minutes it takes to get readings shouldn't be a problem. I wouldn't bother turning them up though, what I'd want are the readings the corals are actually getting and adding corals that like those readings.

@BG107 why do you want to measure with lights at 100%?

For what it’s worth I adjusted my lights to get my target PAR on the sandbed, and then measured at various points throughout the tank. So now I have a map of my PAR.

@mike550 I was hoping to get par readings at every intensity since I am renting the par meter from BRS, that is why I wanted to also map it at 100 just for the information for later. Like this I will not need to rent again.
