Good morning reefers,

I need some help with plumbing my new dual over flow 180G tank. Dual overflows
PXL_20230726_185018800.jpg

There's one 1" and one 3/4" bulkheads on each overflow. I was told to use the 3/4 for return 1" for drains.

I basically copied the setup from my old system, but ended up with some issues and need to make modifications to the plumbing setup. The drainage in the overflow is a 1 inch pipe going up about 6 inches into a 1 inch reducer , then a 1-1/2 inch pipe all the way up with 2 elbows then a strainer.

Issue 1: leaks on return lines. Already glued everything so I'm going to have to cut and redo the bulkheads.

Issue 2: I want to run dual RFGs through a T or a Y fitting on each overflow side. But the configuration and height I set my overflow pipe to will not allow me to run a loc-line to the other return slot since the drainage pipe is in the way.

I want to know, what can I do with my drainage pipe in the overflow to give myself more room for my return lines.

Should I remove the two elbows on the 1-1/2" inch drainage pipe and just add the strainer directly on top? Should I get rid of the reducer and just have 1 inch drains? Or would it be better to leave that configuration and just cut a few inches of height to give me the clearance I need up top?

Attached are a few photos to help paint the picture.

Much appreciated!! Screenshot_20230727-092403.png Screenshot_20230727-092342.png Screenshot_20230727-092626.png Screenshot_20230727-092645.png Screenshot_20230727-092734.png

Sorry I cant really get a grip on it. However don't see why you use such large pipe. Also I hope you realize that your tank is ant siphon. Those small holes are a siphon break/ vent. maybe you can copy mine x 2

It's kinda hard to explain the situation. But I'm going to make a sketch to try to better explain the situation. I'm not sure I need to use such large pipes either, like I said I was copying my old system to try to use as much of the same pipes as possible. But now I see that might not be ideal.

I'll post the sketch in a sec

So here's a sketch. Basically the drain line is so high that I'm not able to run another return into the other slot, so I'm just using one of the return slots, instead of using both.

There's 2 overflows so the issue is the same on both
