I reached out to Abyzz for help with this but their technical specialist is away for the next two weeks. I'm hoping to get some insight here.

How would you recommend plumbing the pumps to the bulkheads in my situation? The bulkheads are in the corners of the sump so I can't use a straight piece of pipe.

I do have room for a 1.5" union and two 45 degree fittings but this would only give me about 4.5" of straight pipe coming out of the pump until the first 45 degree turn. I'm not sure if having two 45's so close to the pump outlet is OK or not, .

I saw another post where someone used 1.5" high pressure silicone tubing and 316SS hose clamps that they got from Abyzz. Would you recommend using the silicone tubing instead of hard plumbing?

These pumps are located about 12 feet below the return bulkheads on my tank. All return plumbing is 1.5".

Why do you have a union at the very beginning on the bulk head? What I would do instead of a union is buy a piece of high pressure silicone tubing and get the barbed ends for the bulk head and the pvc adapter barb to connect to the 45s that way all you have to do to remove the bulkhead is un clamp it and pull it off the hose.

This is what I have granted I don’t have two 45s but I still use the tubing and such.

Just thought of something else you could do. You could use an elbow like this

where one side actually is male and the other is female so that way the 45 will go directly into the union and all you have to do is lift the bulkheads up off the bottom of the sump with a rock or something under it.

I don't understand what your saying. If I use high pressure silicon tubing from the pump outlet to the bulkhead then I don't need to use 45's at all.

True but what’s the point of getting rid of the 45s? They should be just fine I just thought you were looking for other ways to plumb it.

I just want to make sure that having two 45's so close to the pump outlet won't hurt the pump or reduce the flow too much.

No you should be just fine. Bending a silicone tube that big would be a nightmare and you would still have the bends live two 45s in it so it should be just fine. Just make sure you glue everything really well!!!!
