Hey Folks, looking for a confirmation if this is indeed the dreaded Dino?
I have noticed some dead hitchiker gorilla crabs(:):):)) which I am guessing might be bcoz of the poisoning from Dino. Snails seem to be doing fine though. Lost 2 cleaner shrimps as well very mystriously a few months back.. They had been in my tank for 1.5 years and just died all of a sudden. I am thinking now that it could be this Dino problem..

appreciate any feedback..
thanks.

Sorry, I really can't tell. My gut feel is that it isn't dino's but it is possible. What are your PO4 and NO3?

My Nitrate are between the 10-25 ppm range(salifert) and PO4 is almost undetectable (2 - 3 ppb) with Hannah ulr checker but I see some algae on the rocks and glass so pretty sure that's not correct..

Keep in mind you are only testing the nutrients in the water and it isn't uncommon for tanks with algae to test low NO3/PO4 because it is quickly being consumed by the algae.

If these are Dino's you may try to increase your phosphate a bit. If your algae is phosphate limited it may not be able to outcompete the dino's.

Hmm, hard to tell from the pic. Does the amount vary quite a bit when the lights are off? And does it seem to be worse after a water change?

thanks for the advice brew12. I did stop using gfo and past few days the rocks and pumps covered with algae has cleared up substantialy. I am also dosing MB7 daily to help get the good bacteria a strong foothold in the tank.. not sure what it is but seems to be working..

cpvince
it stays the same after light off as well.. after my last WC of 15% and after taking the GFO offline since last week it seems to be receeding..
the snails seems stunned though as the hardly move around the tank and stay in one spot.. that's my biggest concern that maybe it's the poison for dino which is doing that..
