I was wondering what people recommend for power heads. Ive been using jabao (was suggested by lfs) I love the price and their features, but I feel like I'm replacing them every 3-6 months. Id like to find something that lasts longer without being super pricy. I had my eyes in a hydra setup but the reviews I find on them are a little unsettling.
I have a mixed reef tank 72x24x30 (220 gallon)

I'd love to hear opinions on brands and placements
Thanks!

The hydor koralia are nice pumps. I had mine running for almost two years straight before I switched to a pair of vortech mp10s. The koralias are great, but limited controlability.

I think crabs nailed it. Without going into the top shelf powerheads, the hydor koralia are pretty decent. There seem to be a lot of new ones being released in the mid to lower price range, but hard to find many reviews on them.

I'm assuming they'll work with hydra's power head/wavemaker controller? Do you believe two claiming to be around 2000gph would be enough?

I find the opposite. Ime Koralia is junk and needs constant cleaning. Have all types of Jebao running on many tanks for years with no issues. Clean them every six months and good

Can I ask what mode you run your jebaos in? I seem to get at most 6 months out of them. I had the most success running in else mode but after a couple months if I need to shut them off or change to a mode that requires them to cycle on and off they never work again.

All dif modes. Else is fav. After 5-6 months, when I notice flow slows down I give overnight vinegar bath, clean, put back in tank and flow back to like new

I have the same tank and I’ve been running the gyres for almost 3 years now. I’ve only had 1 issue where the casing for the wires were pulling out of the motor body but they sent me a replacement motor no questions asked. The pumps move a lot of water and great customer service!!
