Help with programming Ecotech Versa Pumps for AWC. WHen one pump stops (for unknown reasons), the others keep going. WHen you update the pumps they frequently won't connect. I wish the software people would get there crap together. If you are going to use VERSA pumps make sure you are home and have an APEX. Multiple times they lose connections and just stop without warning.
I like the pumps because they are fast and quiet, but this is stupid.

Hmm, no one else is reporting issues like this in the HUGE versa thread. Could it just be your pumps are possibly faulty? Have you tried calling Ecotech?

I have had for 4 pumps for about a month. Pumps are not faulty. It's a software issue. THey don't notify you if they stop. THey don't tell you when they are on. You have to be looking at the pump. If you just assume they are running because they have for a week straight on the same program, you can be very surprised (as I have been), when one of the pumps is not on! I don't regret buying the pumps because they have been great, but how do you not have simple software notification that pump is actively dosing when you are in bluetooth range or have connectivity such that one pump shuts off if the other does for AWC?

The Versa's do not rely on any connection to run their program. The program is uploaded to the unit and will run with or without connectivity (genius right?).

I'm not sure if it's an issue as you explain it (perhaps it is). Because I also use 2 versa's for AWC and noticed that one pump stopped working. the difference between you and I is that I didn't jump on the internet to start a gotcha thread. I started to troubleshoot and found out that when executing a scene, one of the versa's was programmed to stop during that countdown while the other kept running. It was user error on my part when I programmed that scene, a simple edit fixed the problem.

Even if I didn't figure out the problem, the great thing about ETM is that they have great CS and a phone call to them would put better minds on the problem.

I agree that there should be a way to couple multiple versa's that way if one stops, all that are coupled stop as well, but unless you voice that directly, they won't know your concerns. IIRC you can shake your handheld device and open a trouble ticket directly from the mobius app. that way the developers get it directly.

THis has happened multiple times and I have contacted them before. I told them about the issue. I have had them for 6 weeks. These pumps WILL stop for no reason. You can not rely on them unless they are hooked up to apex or similar if you are out of town. PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW that it can happen so they don't lose corals. As I stated, I like the pumps but the software needs improvement.

That's a good idea to set the container volume. It would be nice if they had an online manual:))

ALSO, I agree that my TITLE posting is way too HARSH. I am up for deleting or changing if it can be done. As I said multiple times, I enjoy the pumps but I worry for my corals and others without measures being taken.

What if I changed the title to "Help with programming Ecotech Versa Pumps for AWC". I can also move this over to the equipment discussion forum. Let me know.

Bam-

please describe specifically what you mean by the ”pump stopped.” How long? When? Frequently? This could mean a lot of things.

THANK YOU!! It was an impulse "title" out of frusturation and it is way to harsh. However you want to change the title thread or move it okay with me.

Problems seem to occur after updates. It's always the same pump. THis particular pump has the most difficulty accepting updates and is always the last to get connected if power is off requiring me to delete pump and/or turn it on/off multiple times. Both times the pump stopped it was within less then 30 minutes of starting to dose. THere have been no power issues. I have never messed with container settings and don't even know where to find them. What's weird is the last time when the pump stopped during AWC, I was able to dose manually?!?! Currently, I am doing a 3 gallon water change over 12 hours while home and I don't see any issues.

Thank you. So the pump completely stops for more than a few moments? Have you waited to see if it turns back on and when?

Are you turning the versa’s on and off daily with your neptune?

also, please see if you have a max daily dosage set. Its possible this is superceding your programmed dose.

It is always on the "ON" and not "auto" for the neptune. I did not wait to see if pump would turn back on as the other pump was running. I have never gone over more then 4 gallons over 12 hours. I did not check the max dosage.

Oh... so you're using "manual" for awc, I use "constant".

That's besides the point... can you give me a run down as to how you have the water change event programmed?

I assume you're using a controller to shut off ato, and then are you also using that controller to turn on and off the versas as well? Or are you leaving the versas on and utilizing the mobius programming to run in tandum with the controller?
