Hello. I have had an outbreak of some kind of algae in my six-month old reef tank. Can someone help me ID what it is? I'm a bit color-blind but my wife and daughter variously use the terms purple with a little pink, magenta, or plum to describe the color. It seems to be growing in mats on my hardscape and sandbed but also has long stringy parts that sometimes seem to clump together into thick mats waving in the current. Does anyone have any ideas about what type of algae this is and how to get rid of it? I tried to get some pics. They're not great but hopefully they'll help.

Cyano bacteria. Pretty common on new tanks especially if started with all dry rock. Chemiclean will take care of it.
