Help With Raising KH/ALK

Hi guys I am looking for some help in raising my KH/ALK. I do have a DOS and Trident but the DOS will not be operational until the weekend. My parameter at the moment is about 7.1 and I have a 100G tank. I have the Red Sea foundation buffer and was trying o work out what I should add in one dose, per day, to start slowly brining the KH/ALK up.

Was wanting to pull on your experience in how to do this,. I don’t want to mess up! This is the only think I am dosing apart form manually dosing Amino Acids and Vit C.

It suggests 34ml but I am assuming I don’t had that in one go. This was to take it from 7.2 to 8

Yes I wouldn’t dump it in all at once break it up into smaller amounts over a few days and then recheck your Alk

What’s small? 1 ml or 5 ml?

most people will say a 1dkh raise in a day is fine. I would break that up into 4 doses and just put it in every few hours

No need to rush I would do like 10ml a day and watch your numbers.. 7.1 is actually fine but I also like my Alk closer to 8 if possible to give me some buffer for swings. also important to make sure your salinity and Mg are in line before chasing Alk numbers as these can effect your values.

I just wanted to give an update on this , I have been dosing the ALK and as advised gone slow with it, more to build my own confidence up more than anything. I have had my wife dose during the day as well when I am in work.

So this is where we are now and as confidence has increased after looking at the reaction of the fish and coralsI am about half way.

I am dosing about every 3 hours now during the day until bed time, no more than 1mm a time. Probably still on the conservative side. You can ignore the big spike that’s when I calibrated the Neptune for the first time. It was only about 0.02 out in everything.
